Short answer: Brow lamination aftercare comes down to three rules: keep the brows dry for the first 24 hours, keep makeup, skincare and heat away from them for 24 to 48 hours, and brush them up every morning with a little nourishing oil at night from day two. Give clients these rules in writing, in the same words every time, and post them on Instagram so they can find them again. Below is a copy ready aftercare card, a week by week guide and the questions clients ask most.
Most "my lamination dropped" messages come from skipped aftercare, not from your work. Clear instructions protect your results and cut your DMs. Always follow the specific instructions from your training and the lamination system you use; this is a template to adapt, not a replacement for those.

Your brow lamination aftercare
First 24 hours
- Keep your brows completely dry. No washing, no steam, no sweat.
- Do not touch, rub or brush them.
- No makeup, cream or serum on the brow area.
First 48 hours
- Skip saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and swimming.
- Try to sleep on your back.
- Keep retinol, acids and exfoliants away from your brows.
From day two
- Brush your brows up every morning with a clean spoolie.
- Use a nourishing brow oil or serum at night.
- Book your next lamination in six to eight weeks.

What happens in the first 24 to 48 hours
Straight after the treatment, the hairs are still settling into their new shape. Water, steam and friction are what undo that. That is why the first day matters most. Brows can look a little stiff or "too set" on the first day; tell clients this is normal and that they soften from day two.
Weeks one to eight
- Week 1: The shape is at its most defined. Daily brushing trains the hairs.
- Weeks 2 to 5: Brows look natural and full. Nightly oil keeps the hairs soft.
- Weeks 6 to 8: New hairs grow in unlaminated and the shape relaxes. Time to rebook.
Tell clients that their own hair growth cycle decides the exact timing. Some see four weeks, most see six to eight.
What not to do after brow lamination
- Do not get the brows wet in the first 24 hours.
- Do not tint or perm the brows again at home.
- Do not use brow gel with strong hold for the first days.
- Do not pick or pull at the hairs.
- Do not book another lamination sooner than six weeks.
How to post aftercare on Instagram
Aftercare is one of the most saved posts a brow artist can make. Three formats that work:
- A carousel: one rule per slide, your brand colors, a "save this" line on the last slide.
- A story highlight: "Aftercare", pinned first, updated once a season.
- A reel: brushing laminated brows up in the morning, with the three rules as text.
Frequently asked questions
How long do you have to keep brows dry after lamination? At least 24 hours. Some systems recommend up to 48 hours for steam, saunas and swimming. Follow the instructions of the product you used.
When can clients wear makeup after brow lamination? After 24 hours on the brow area. Makeup elsewhere on the face is usually fine, as long as it stays off the brows.
Why did my client's brow lamination drop early? The most common reasons are water in the first 24 hours, rubbing or sleeping face down, oily skin, or fast hair growth. Check aftercare first.
Should clients use oil after brow lamination? From day two, a nourishing brow oil or serum at night helps keep the hairs soft and healthy.
